Each map is marked with user-friendly icons identifying the services and entertainment centres that you look for as you make your way through everything from post offices, car parks, restaurants, bars, DIY stores and gyms to information on hotels, airports, public transport and parks. Whether you're a seasoned resident, a returning visitor, relocating, or someone who is completely new in town, Not for Tourists guidebooks help you make the most of your time in the city, while you're in it.
Take one Philadelphia girl and transplant her to the vast unknown nether regions known affectionately as "Down South" - welcome to Hotlanta and you my dear reader, have discovered the heart of Georgia, Atlanta. My purchase of this book stemmed from a mix of fear that I would lose my beloved City Life (and worse, lack of direction). Besides in a city where every street is Peachtree and you finally get past the stereotype that everything is sweet tea, country fried fried, and bless your heart - this amazing travel guide becomes the PERFECT antidote for the new transplant to find obscure bookstores, shops, coffeehouses and greenspace in a pretty awesome new city. I keep it in the car for the days when I do venture out and explore. Funny, I'm actually becoming more familiar than some of the natives.
Really helpful, GREAT maps and to-the-point descriptions of the countless neighborhoods in Hotlanta. Succinct, sometimes to the point of ridiculousness, but helpful none the less descriptions of restaurants, activities, etc. An index would be nice..
