I found this book at a used bookstore and it captured my attention because whoever owned it last, truly had a mad crush on her. Inside the cover I found that he (the bookplate had his name) kept opera programs and news clippings of her. I am not of the opera world, but I certainly learned all the big names of the pre-WWII art and music scene, as the entire book was an avalanche of name drops. Not that she didn't rub shoulders with all of them, but I was expecting something enlightened from her intense worldwide career. It was only the last 30 pages of her WWII travel and engagements that offered anything close to that.
