This study proposes that the children of working mothers are enriched rather than deprived and enjoy greater independence and a fuller sense of life's options
Anita Hale Shreve was an American writer, chiefly known for her novels. One of her first published stories, Past the Island, Drifting (published 1975), was awarded an O. Henry Prize in 1976.
Unfortunately this book - written in 1987 - was out of date, because it referred to many studies which are really old. The society has changed a lot since 80's and I would also have preferred to read about the Finnish culture, not the American one. I started to feel that I am updated myself, too, because the times when I struggled between the children and my career belong fortunately to the past :) I remember it wasn't always easy to find the balance between home and work.
