It's for kids, BUT not recommended for kids.
It's well researched (for its time), and reasonably well written (for its time). There is much here that is not generally included in your average Xmas book (Russian customs!), and the book is accepting of pre roman sources of custom in EUROPE. It IS, however, very biased. It was written by an American, who had a new-world-is-white-European bias. Not recommended for impressionable kiddies.

Quite interesting to learn how Christmas was celebrated in various parts of the world 100+ years ago. Curious how much of these descriptions are still accurate.
