Contains 5 small books in a cardboard case. The Hedgerow Circus,The Tale of Tommy Nobody,The Tale of Fergus Frog, A Feast Of Flowers, & Worms Wiggle, Bugs Jiggle
This box set of books has sat on the book shelf of every bedroom I've had since the days when I slept in a crib. I'm not sure if my mom or my grandma had bought them from me but they've always been there. Unlike most other books I possessed since my pre-school days, they somehow escaped my need to write in them and somehow survived multiple readings without falling apart. They're filled with lovely illustrations and simple stories. I still remember that The Hedgerow Circus was my favourite of the five books.
Every now and then I will, by necessity, whittle down my book collection to something manageable. These, however, will never go anywhere.
This was the first book/book set that I ever recieved as a gift. I must have been in 6th or 7th when i first read it. I remember how I used to love reading these when it rained. Also I found myself rereading the "The Tale of Tommy Nobody". Least favorite is the one with rhymes and verses- Worms wiggle, bugs jiggle. The illustrations in the book makes it even more enjoyable. Its been more than 15 years since I have theis book set. It could even possibly be the first book that I owned. So much nostalgia. Its a treasure for me. There wont be a single person who have read these books and hated them. I am sure. And this could even be the only book for which I gave a 5 star review.
My mom gave be this set of books back in 1985 or 1986 I think. I really enjoyed reading them as a toddler as the illustrations were wonderful and the stories were simple but charming. My favorite was the Tale of Fergus Frog followed by the Hedgerow Circus followed by A feast of Flowers then Tommy Nobody and Worms Wiggle. Fergus Frog was a thriller for a toddler. I ordered a new set last 2020 and its my daughter's time to enjoy these books.
[Short and quick review before I re-read and re-review at a later date:
Four stars?! I don't even remember why and it wasn't that long ago I re-read them again since my childhood. Four stars? I hope I remember where I put them...]
