Ramón Iván Suárez Caamal is a poet, literature profesor and influential cultural promotor. He is founder and director of Casa Internacional del Escritor de Bacalar, in Quintana Roo where workshops and literary festivals continuously take place and artistic residences are available. He received major poetry awards, including Premio Nacional de Poesía Jaime Sabines, 1991, and Premio Hispanoamericano de Poesía para Niños (Fundación para las Letras Mexicanas), in 2010. He also the author of the oficial anthem of the Mexican State of Quintana Roo, where he currently resides.
