These are very cute. Sort of like Nancy Drew for grown-ups. The only complaint I have about these books – and I usually have a lot of complaints about most books – is why the author insists that detective angel is crazy about his wife when she's a selfish and very stupid person who is constantly harassing him unnecessarily. It's very insulting to think that I'm supposed to consider her a good wife. A truly pleasant person would never behave like she does. And it makes you wonder what exactly is going on in the UK anyway? Every book written by a man from the UK depicts women as terrible be-atch-es. A perfect example of what I'm talking about can also be seen on television and in the movies. Fawlty Towers with John Cleese depicts a horrible horrible person as his wife and John Cleese also depicts a different horrible horrible person as his wife in the movie A Fish Called Wanda. Is that really the way women in Britain act? Why? Is it because the men are so awful? The whole thing is ridiculous and I don't understand it but I very much dislike the author's depiction of the wife. Unlike many books written in the UK, the women in general appear to be pleasant people, which is a big change for most of these British books. But the wife is a classic. Hard to understand why anybody would be married to her let alone think they were in love with her. And they're constantly whingeing about the gas bill and they're behind on all their bills because he doesn't make that much as a cop – so why is she sitting on her butt at home? Why isn't she working and making herself useful instead of complaining and spending too muchmoney all the time? Ugh.

I believe this is the last book in the series and I have to say I am very very disappointed. Just how many times is your brilliant police officer gonna let himself get bashed over the head because he's not paying attention? None of these books have been written in such a way as to imply detective Angel is a complete moron but this book certainly is. Very disappointing.

Distroyed by last story

I would have given it the full stars of the last story had never been written. It was like a cheap American private eye story. It made Angel look like complete idiot. It was totally alien to the rest of the collection that I had been reading. Not sure why I alongside who wrote it. If tossed same Author he must have had a brain storm or something. So sad after all the work done on the rest of stories
Thank you for them

all 28 books were excellent

I have read all 28 books and then hoping there are more. I really enjoyed them. I like how Mary every day tries to talk him out of being a copper and how every day he doggedly goes to work and eventually gets his man. These are really good books again I hope there are more.

The last book in the 28 book series spoiled the whole series for me. Poorly executed towards the final third, it left me totally frustrated and dissapionted.
