The transition to virtual facilitation brought along many challenges and the pressure to engage for me was multiplied. The way we design and manage online workshops requires a 360 view of our participant's experience and a consistent effort to engage and re-align. Patricia delivers on her promise by bringing into our attention best practices and quick recovery techniques which every virtual speaker faces. The challenges and behind-the scene interventions are clever. Her focus on the participant experience is brilliant. The examples she offers are indispensable. Well done! I highly recommend it.

Patricia has the most helpful tips for improving the online facilitating I am doing in my business! Things that were taking me hours to figure out, and things I did not even know about she has included in this book. I (virtually) step into Zoom Meetings and Webinars with more confidence than ever before. Whatever business you are in, I am sure you will find the contents of The Online Shift incredibly helpful, and fun to learn!

She has incorporated in her book things that were taking me hours to figure out and stuff I was even unaware of. I opened a Zoom conference while reading portions of this book so I could test out some of Patricia's advice in real time, and I adore the fact that she incorporated all the advice in a checklist that appears after the last chapter. This manual is really helpful. Patricia offers priceless insights that assist our virtual interaction to remain pertinent, significant, and useful for the customers we are fortunate.

"The goal is for your participants to remember how great they felt when attending your event and remember your content." Patricia's book delivers on both of these goals, and especially the first one. She attends to every aspect of the participant experience - before *and* during a learning event.
Patricia points out that as we master the various online platforms, we become blind to our participants' learning curves. So true! And her remedy is right on the money: we need to log in as if we were a participant - from several devices, within apps and through the web - to remind ourselves what our participants may be experiencing.
I read parts of this book with a Zoom meeting open so I could try out some of Patricia's suggestions in real time, and I love-love-love that she included all the tips in a checklist, following the final chapter. This is a very practical handbook.
If there was one thing I'd like more of, it's post-event tips. I'm sure with Patricia's background in adult education, she has lots to share about increasing retention after a learning event. Maybe that's an addition for a second edition.

“This is a quick, easy to read book with lots of tips and idea when using technology to host meetings training, or presentations. There are so many gems throughout such as shutting down other browser tabs to improve internet strength. Who knew! Technology has challenged me and the checklist helps me feel prepared. I love the tips – I never thought of clearing an old phone and having it just as a back up for zoom. The author does all of the work for you.”

If you don't follow Patricia on YouTube, you need to. Her VLOGs are my go-to source for all things relevant and new in the virtual training and facilitation space.
