Heir of the Chaos: An Intriguing Mythological Mystery Romance

Rate this book
A CIVIL WAR IS BREWING, AND CHAOS IS COMING.With Piper Prince’s parents still missing and her sister’s cancer worsening, the last thing she needs is more distraction from myths and rivalries. But when the Aztec god of chaos declares that all mythicals may remove their human masks, civil unrest follows. Not everyone is onboard with revealing the mythological world to non-magickas, a protest made clear with the death of a genie.

Piper is accused of the murder—a charge she cannot disprove thanks to a curious case of amnesia. Now she’s on the sheriff’s suspect list, the Protectors’ black list, and the genies’ hit list. At least she’s still on Finnian Kalani’s love-interest list, at number one and only.

Armed with a faulty memory, a shrinking number of allies, and increasingly chaotic magic, Piper must find her grounding, discover the truth, and control her power—before chaos consumes her and the island.

If you love a blend of fantasy and mystery, along with a strong-willed amateur sleuth destined for greatness and a dash of unexpected romance, you'll ♥ Heir of the Chaos.

I absolutely love the Muse Island Series, and the 5th installment did not disappoint! The 5th book finds Piper, Finn, and friends up against a very dark and powerful adversary. During the first four books in the series, Piper Prince went from being a newcomer to the island to a very well-known individual. At first her actions were hailed as well-intentioned despite the fact that some Island inhabitants died, in the 5th book, however, the tide has turned on Piper and the masses are calling for her blood. Her growing power and apparent association with the banished 10th Muse, Chaos, is not helping her situation at all.

The 5th book definitely has a much different atmosphere and feeling to it. The first four books felt more like murder mysteries with Piper playing the detective role. The two words that I could use to sum up the emotions that Heir of the Chaos produced within me while I read was: danger and heartbreak. Danger encompasses all of the characters throughout this book and it kept me on the edge of my seat while I read. I also felt Piper’s despair when her new-found friends turned on her, including the one person closest to Piper, her terminally ill sister. Piper’s trip to Muse Island was supposed to be a last ditch effort to find their long lost parents and hopefully save her sister….where did it all go so wrong?

Heir of the Chaos is not the answer to all of these questions, however. I thought when I started reading this book that it was the 5th and final book in the Muse Island series, but hooray, it is not! Given how action-packed and crazy the 5th book was, I cannot imagine the intensity of a 6th book! I will definitely be impatiently waiting for the 6th book to be released so it can transport me back to Muse Island!

The last book in the Muse Island series went out with a bang..my heart…

I actually cried through the last two chapters. Hoping their would be another book after! It can't end this way!!!!! I need more!!!!! Y'all

crushed my heart with this one LOL but it was so dang good. The emotions explored in this book. The chaos that exploded. Piper using others to her gain for a good reason/cause? But is that what's most important? Valuable lessons brought forth..I absolutely loved this Series and I'm happy with it, although saddened..but still very happy I took a chance on these books! Each book as good as the last, if not getting better and better with each chapter. If you're a fan of mythical creatures & magick, I highly suggest these books! But be careful, you might end up with a broken heart like me! 😩

Still a great read in the Muse Island series, it does everything that I enjoyed from the previous four books. The characters were what I was looking for from this type of book. It had a great mythology romance aspect and I was hooked from the first book. Kris Faryn has a great writing style and glad I got to read this. Can't wait to read more from this series and from Kris Faryn.

"The truth was, I could never go back. Not now that I knew all I did, about mythicals and myself, and with so much left to discover. Hanging onto my old job, my old life, did nothing but give me an excuse not to build a life here. I couldn’t control what was happening in the statue garden and the investigation. I could control this."

Danger, adventure, heartbreak.

This is the final book in an exciting series, but the last one is packed with so many emotions that it leaves the reader hoping that it's not really the end - that there must be more.

So...is there a spin off series in the future? I don't know but I wouldn't be disappointed if there were.
