This is such a fun series! Although it would probably be considered "light reading" in that cats are the main protagonists, talking to each other and generally having much to do with solving problems that arise in their "cattery," Merry Maines in north central Maine, it is well written and chock full of knowledgeable bits of Maine history, cat fancy details (show cat trivia for the even more enthusiastic cat lovers), and other various: antiquities, archeology, quilting, occasional recipes, oil painting, loverly relationships, mysticism, etc.!

Yes, I picked the book up (second one I've read and hope the series continues to grow!) as a break from some more serious recent reading. Notwithstanding, I have thoroughly enjoyed myself reading The Moosery AND found it difficult to put down once into the adventures of these fascinating Merry Maine cats. I like detective stories/ mysteries, and I love cats. I'm interested in Maine and enjoy well-told stories that bring in many interesting facets - possible Viking trespasses in central Maine this time! So what's not to enjoy?

Well written and fun, this is a book I definitely recommend for a playful escape for cat people.

I am partial to Maine Coon Cats so I found this sequel a delight. Though the author jumps a lot from head to head-it did not take away from my enjoyment of the story and its engaging characters. If you love cats, this book, like the 1st, is worth a look and I am certain any cat lover will fall in love with Hawkeye, Shere Khan, Bhu and the rest of the Merry Maines feline crew!
