This was both a heartbreaking and pleasant read. Yu and his family live in a refugee camp and have done for the past 3 years after fleeing vietnam due to his dad being a political prisoner. The daily goings-on of Yu’s life and mind was an interesting insight into the experience of immigrants and their plight during displacement. The use of the sun as a motif for freedom and liberation was a bit on the nose at times but nonetheless powerful. I look forward to reading more books from this author.

Jordi Sierra i Fabra nos relata de manera lijera lo que se vive en los campos de refugiados, mafias, corrupción, insalubridad, drogas, sexo y religión son un poco de lo mucho con lo que se tiene que lidiar en estos lugares olvidados en el tiempo.

Se nos presenta un día en la vida de Yu, un niño de 10 años, y su familia en el campo de refugiados de Shek Kong en Hong Kong. Ellos han solicitado asilo político al dejar su aldea Shao San en Vietman por las diferentes situaciones que vive ahí su padre Hu Dong y tienen la esperanza de llegar a Australia. Llevan en el campo de refugiados 972 días.
La historia, contada desde la perspectiva de Yu, nos lleva a ver la realidad de dicho campo tanto positiva (amistad, familia, etc) como negativamente (violencia, mafias, etc).
Yu es un personaje inocente, me gustó como trata de apoyar a Tiam en su adaptación al campo. También, lo relacionado con Ajedrez (aunque es una aparición muy conveniente o poco clara y lo que hacen con él al final)
El título y la figura del sol tiene una fuerte carga simbólica.
Es una historia muy dura, pero vale la pena.
Por otra parte, el público meta inicialmente es juvenil. No obstante, cualquiera lo puede disfrutar.

Interesante. Me gusta este autor, es bueno para el público adolescente. Y esta novela no le ha gustado mucho al alumnado. Esperemos que la entiendan, les muestra un mundo difícil de asimilar.

Vaaaaya libro, todo pensamiento de Yu es tan lógico, un niño muy muy inteligente, que sueña porque siempre tiene los ojos abiertos. Me encantó. Ajedrez me tenía muy tensa, pero ahora es libre.

`Las alas del sol` narra la vida de una familia vietnamita en un campo de refugiados de Hong Kong. Yu es el hijo mayor y ve las cosas desde un punto de vista inocente y optimista. Su padre, Hu Dong, se enfrentó al jefe comunista local en su pueblo. Éste intentó abusar de su esposa y Hu Dong lo mató.
Huyeron hacia Hong Kong y pidieron asilo político. Todos tienen la esperanza de poder salir de allí, para emigrar a Australia y comenzar una nueva vida. Yu relata sus experiencias en la escuela, con los amigos que ha conocido allí. Asimismo, cuenta su visión sobre los distintos aspectos de la vida, como la violencia, la amistad, los animales, la libertad, el sexo... Tras tres años allí, toda la familia espera el gran día, pero no saben cuándo llegará. Lo importante es que están juntos y se quieren.

Fue como ver una luz en medio de la tormenta, alguien que mantenia la esperanza aun en la tempestad y veia el lado bueno de las cosas.
