PRINCE CHARMINGVirginia Branson was tired of being a slave to her father's drunken tirades. After leaving their home in Texas, he had practically wasted all of the profits from their small business on whiskey and gambling -- and Virginia had all to do just to keep food on their table. She dreamt of a man who would take her away from the life she was destined to lead... and then in the distance she saw him. Riding a white horse, her prince had finally come for her. He was dark and tall, with shoulders broad enough for her to rest her head and feel secure. She knew, from that moment on, that the stranger approaching her camp was to be the one to awaken her sleeping passions...PRINCESS BRIDEStephen Slade saw the camp in the clearing and could think of one thing only -- a hot cup of strong coffee. After all those months in prison, coffee was the one thing he craved most of all -- well, almost. But when he saw the beautiful woman tending the campsite, he remembered what he really missed during his time in jail. He longed for the feel of soft womanly skin naked against his own, the sensation of a kiss that would deepen into an unlimited well of ecstasy. Stephen had all he could do to control himself as Virginia poured him coffee, because he knew that soon he would take her in his arms, caress her enticing curves and make her his own...

This was a pretty entertaining story. Too bad the author turned a perfectly decent hero into a smuck.
In the beginning of the plot the heroine was a bit too naive. I'm pretty certain Karla would rename her Mary Sue. After she gives her pathetic drunken sorry excuse of a father the boot when he pulls an unforgivable stunt that changes her life, and Slades, forever, she finds her true grit...and I cheered all the way through the book for her.
So, the story easily could have been a 4.5 star rating. Alas, Slade the smuck, blew that all to hell when this author committed the great faux pas.
