This is an interesting compilation of a series of essays. It was designed to coincide with the publication of the Church of England's Common Worship 'core' service book in 2000. Some interesting and, up to a point valid, comparisons are made between the traditional Book of Common Prayer services and the modern alternatives which, with some modification, made their way into Common Worship. There is always a danger of "over egging the pudding" when defending the old over against the new and some otherwise worthy contributions are weakened by excessive nitpicking. Well worth reading though.
