Re-reading Kiker’s 3 Cape Cod mysteries. Enjoyed the first, enjoyed this one too. Those of a certain age will remember Douglas Kiker as a tv newsman for NBC, but he did write two straight fiction books in the 50’s and then in the late 80’s penned these mysteries. Here he brings his reportorial knowledge and experience into play - there’s a senator from Illinois holed up on the Cape, plotting a course for a Presidential campaign; and some of the novel takes our protagonist Mac McFarland down to DC to do some research on Senator Bridges for the Boston papers. Unfortunately, his digging brings some unsavory facts into the light, and then a young aide who had previously worked for Bridges is found drowned in a submerged car in the water just off Bridges’ lodgings. Police Chief Noah Simmons and Mac both want to know the story, for different reasons of course, but they make a formidable pair when trying to pierce the veil of secrecy around the political players.
Good fun read, looking forward to that last one.

Second in a series. Enjoyed the first and this one was just as good. Solid mystery with developed characters and a twist at the end.

I found this book among my Aunt Mimi's enormous collection of her loved books. Mimi passed away at 94 years of age. Her books were distributed between many relatives. I'm finding authors I never heard of.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were very real. Sorry Mr. Kiker died so young. But his history in the press was quite something.
