A devotions collection with a page a day for a year. Each day has a Biblical passage as it's focus and this book actually works through the Bible starting in Genesis in January and ending in Revelations in December.

I liked the layout of working through the Bible and building God's story through the year, this is the first devotional I've done that hasn't just hopped around. Could be used to help read through the Bible in a year, but you would have to be very determined and have extra time, as sometimes the next day's devotional is in the next chapter of the same book of the Bible and sometimes it's 15-20 chapters away and/or in a different book (some of the minor prophets and Paul's letters get skipped not having a devotion set in them at all). Has a very similar tone to Jesus Calling in that each day's devotion part is supposed to be God's note to the reader on the passage of scripture for the day.

No content issues.

Heaven Calling, Hearing Your Father's Voice Every Day of the Year, By a Variety of Authors, Zondervan Publishers, Padded Hardcover, 2010, 384 Pages, ISBN-13: 978-0310330363, $14.99

In the devotional Heaven Calling, fourteen authors offer a collection of 365 inspiring one-page devotions culled from Scriptures found in Genesis through Revelation that affirm God cherishes, loves and is crazy about the reader. Comforting insightful devotions encourage readers to form a personal intimate relationship with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ by seeking His face and His will at the start of each day.

Devotional accounts are divided into 365 daily readings, one for each day of the year following a monthly sequence. Each one includes a Scripture, theme verse and a 150-word narrative that ends with simple seed prayers.

I especially liked that the devotions are written in first person so the reader feels like God is speaks directly to them, similar to the writings of Francis J. Roberts. For those who read through the Bible each year these daily devotions establish a relevant "panoramic storyline."

I suppose I expected more from this book than it merited in the first place... but, I constantly found myself wanting more. They did well in selecting passages to showcase but failed to pick out the most poignant message within it. On a more positive note, the writing within the explanations was good.

This would be an excellent book for beginners, but for someone like me, it just didn't offer enough.

Over the years I have made a regular practice and encouraged my parish and clients to do the same -- imagine God speaking His Word to you personally. This book helps to make that application. Personalizing God's Word is one of the most practical ways to receive the message intended for our souls.

Totally awesome. This book is hard to find. It is written as if God is speaking directly at you. In fact, He is!

I’ve been waiting for this one for a long time!
