Lets Measure Up! - Part I, covers the meaurement topics Length, Time and Perimeter. The second part of the series, Book II, looks at Volume, Mass and Area. The activities are designed as extension / independant tasks or can be used as a base for teachers to add further activities. Lets Measure Up! can be used in two Teachers use the activities for the whole class or small groups. Where needed sheets can be photcopied for all students; Pages can be used as activity / learning centers. Teachers can choose a topic and copy the sheets. Copied activities can be laminated for future use. Students visit the learning center, select an activity and complete it. They then show the teacher the activity card and their results. All activities have been used in a variety of classrooms and have proven successful. The activities require only simple Math materials such as blocks, rulers, centimenter cubes etc. that can be found in most classrooms. WRITING AND In this section, students apply what they have learned about language and grammar skills to write more effectively. Creative writing is the focus of this less-structured segment, allowing teachers more opportonity to incorporate their own ideas into developing creative writing skills.
