Nice introduction to chess with computer generated illustrations to bring drama to the game. The picture of "living chess" with humans kinda gives me the creeps !

If you're looking for one book that offers a well-rounded and exciting introduction to the game of chess, then this one is it! It covers everything from history to basic moves & setup; opening, middle game and endgame strategies; tournaments and champions as well as computers and even chess problems for sharpening your new skills as a player. All this is presented in a manner that puts you in the role of a general leading his troops into war. Even if this isn't your first chess book, this book is definitely worth reading and recommending to others. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

After years of understanding chess, this book taught me how to play it. The authors do an outstanding job covering the strategies of openings, middle game, and end game. The presentations are very cleanly laid out and the graphics are inviting.
