Bodhidharma was the 28th Buddhist Patriarch in India and the first Buddhist Patriarch of China. He was the founder of Shao Lin Temple, hidden in the scenic mountains of China, the purported birthplace of martial arts. But why did this great Indian Buddhist Master risk everything to travel to China? What really was his goal there? How did he become the first Buddhist Patriarch in China? Black and white with illustrations. Appropriate both for youth and adults.
Interesting look at Bodhidharma and his arrival in China. This version was a little different from other versions I have read - and I in no way am able to comment on the veracity of one version over another. But at the heart of the story is a monk who believed in his message even though to many it was unconventional and challenged long held beliefs. His ability to maintain the integrity of a message that was often unpopular is a lesson for all of us - regardless of our religious affiliation.
who knew that modern buddhism survived only through the passage of such a strange and dangerous journey as the one traveled the venerable master Patriarch Bodhidharma. In chinese characters and english fully illustrated with graphic violence.
