This book has compelling characters woven together with an interesting plot line. It pulled me in and kept me wanting more without feeling anything was deliberately hidden. It is marvelously written, more mature than the earlier S.F.W., and it is a damn shame that no one was willing to publish it. I really don't see what more editors wanted. It doesn't have the epic quality I was so fond of in S.F.W., but it doesn't really belong here. There are some rough edges, but that is what an editor is for and frankly there were more rough edges in S.F.W.. I just don't get it. It's a good story, well written, and has the right kind of action to have a pretty wide appeal. Oh well, I got to read it and I have to be happy with at least that.
