In the little boy's room there is a whole world. He has a private sun, a private moon, private stars, and many friends. But where is Prince Bear, the one he loves best of all?
Uri Shulevitz was an American writer and illustrator of children's books. He won the 1969 Caldecott Medal for U.S. picture book illustration, recognizing The Fool of the World and the Flying Ship, an Eastern European fairy tale retold by Arthur Ransome in 1916.
A precious and lovely book. Not a lot of text, but the story is really good. I loved the illustrations and the relationship between the bear and boy. So cute adorable. My heart ached when the bear said he was forgotten. Loved the ending and the book!
This book reminded me a little of Where the Wild Things Are, because the child in the book is escaping into their imagination. The color scheme is very similar as well.
