I swithered about borrowing this book from the library because I feared the worst. However it's a good read and the author does a reasonable job of capturing the style of Neil Munro's tales as well as coming up with very readable stories. In addition after each short tale is a factual piece on what real event or place inspired each tale.

Not (of course) as good as the originals, but not bad all the same.
