Mark Howard Beers (b. 1954) was an American geriatrician whose research on drug interactions among the elderly led to the creation of the eponymous Beers Criteria, which lists prescription medications that may have deleterious side effects in older patients.
Much of this book is still pertinent today. After all, how much can aging have changed in the last twenty years... or even fifty years? That being said, the last section contains a subheading: Paying for Health Care. Much has changed since 2004 in that regard, most notably the misnamed Affordable Care Act which inherently reduced the number of insurance agencies and left the remainder to raise prices which in turn made it necessary to subsidize the program by the federal government-costing taxpayers more than if the whole shebang were not dabbled with by politicians. But I digress... If a reader can find an updated version of this near-tome, by all means, find time to read it. Even an older version like this one can be quite enlightening.
