Robert Govett was "a hundred years ahead of his time." The words are Charles Spurgeon's. In his day Govett's insights were an inspiration to men like A. B. Simpson, Hudson Taylor, R. C. Chapman, and others later like Jessie Penn-Lewis, Watchman Nee, and T Austin-Sparks. When Joseph Seiss wrote his renowned commentary on Revelaion the main source he used was Robert Govett's "The Apocalypse." Now those truths that raised up overcomers in the faith a century ago are available to the saints once again.
