This is a well-written book, one that focuses on the history of Irish defense and security since the inception of Ireland in 1922 up until the modern era. For someone interested in the defense and security aspect of Irish history, I don't think there is a book that can compare to the quality of this book.

However, the book is a long read, it's very detailed, and it may be confusing for those who aren't very familiar with Irish history, specifically contemporary Irish politics and government.
