The Las Vegas Monster: Storybook - Storyboard

Rate this book
The Las Vegas Monster is a story based on several ideas developed by the late Pete Peterson and stop motion test footage he shot in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The first story was about a baboon that was sent into space and upon it's return mutated into a rampaging monster. The second was about a test of pressure suits for astronauts that goes terribly wrong and turns the astronauts into bug-eyed monsters. These two stories have been blended together and the result is the script and storyboard presented here for The Las Vegas Monster. In this story a group of baboons is sent to Mars to retrieve and return alien artifacts. When one of the baboons stows away on the return trip he is exposed to an alien gas that fuses him into his spacesuit and causes him to grow to monstrous proportions. His trainer, a female animal psychologist, is brought in to capture him but he escapes again in a lab experiment gone wrong. He kidnaps the woman, and goes on a rampage in Las Vegas. A wild decision is made to use some of the Martian technology recovered, strange bug-like pressure suits, to protect several men so they can bring down the beast and rescue the woman. A final show down takes place on top of the Hoover Dam.
