Surprisingly few misunderstandings, or at least they were discussed/resolved relatively quickly by the main characters. Our hero family was comically good for the era (they’re part of the Underground Railroad and only have free black people working on their plantation. They would have voted for Obama a third time if they could) and the villains comically bad (literally planning to pretend there’s a satanic cult to convince the south to secede so they can make money? Somehow?) but I’m not looking for anything too deep in these kinds of books

This is the first book I've read by this author. It was a great story! I love the time frame of the 1800's. I also love the theme of people from very different backgrounds falling in love and being determined to make it work even if the world seems against it. If you like this genre you will like this book. Enjoy!

O M Geeeee

This is one of my very favorite books by Janelle Taylor, I love the way she expresses what each character is doing or going through. I am part Cherokee and I feel so close to her Cherokee characters when I read her books, I just returned a week ago from Cherokee, North Carolina and this story told so much truth. Thank you Janelle.
