About the author

Federico Andahazi is the son of Bela Andahazi, Hungarian poet and psychoanalyst, and Juana Merlín. During his adolescence, he began to read the classical Argentine and universal authors. He used to escape from school, that reflected the oppressive military dictatorship ruler, to meet with friends in bookstores and bars on Corrientes Avenue, emblematic place of Buenos Aires culture.

It was at this time when he began writing his first stories. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in Psychology (Universidad de Buenos Aires); he practiced the psychoanalysis a few years, while he was working on his short stories.

In 2008, Andahazi published his first book of nonfiction, Pecar como Dios manda, Sexual History of Argentines. The essay runs in an hypothesis through all his work: you cannot understand the history of a country if you don’t know the history of sex that gestured it.

With a prose that does not forget the novelist, the author conducted this first volume in an exhaustive investigation that starts from the original cultures and reaches the May Revolution.

Federico Andahazi currently is working on the following volumes of the sexual history of the Argentines and in various fiction projects.

His work has the recognition of the critical all over the world. His books are the subject of many reviews and studies.

El estilo de Andahazi es genial. Antes había leído El Anatomistas y me gustó tanto que busqué otros de títulos de este autor. En este caso tuve la suerte de leer estos relatos que me recordaron mucho al realismo mágico de Macondo, pero con el humor y el lenguaje explícito de Andahazi.

Me parece divertidísimo un libro de cuentos que pasa de un cuento a otro repitiendo personajes en distintos carácteres y situaciones, pero en el mismo entorno y en el mismo universo narrativo.

Los cuentos tienen un giro de tuerca fabuloso y son narrados con la habilidad única de Andahazi se enredarlo a uno en su historia.

Además amo los pequeños easter eggs que deja en sus historias: guiños históricos, referencias literarias y hasta autorreferencias.

Андахази - моя любовь. То, как пишет Андахази это оригинально, это интересно на каждой странице.

Эти рассказы мне все понравились тем, что там неожиданные повороты, безумные ситуации. Больше всех меня впечатлил, конечно, Северино Соса. Что это вообще за человек бездушный и жестокий. Мы привыкли что добро всегда побеждает зло, но тут Северино Соса поимел всех.

Несколько бодрых рассказов, вводящих читателя в контекст многострадальной аргентинской истории. Действие происходит в мини-вселенной, созданной Федерико Андахази, где одни и те же персонажи умирают, восстают из мёртвых и кочуют из сюжета в сюжет. Здесь очень много насилия, однако оно у меня ассоциируется с фильмами Тарантино, где страшные вещи происходят под смешки зрителя (в данном случае читателя). Увлекательное чтиво на один вечер, подходящее для знакомства с искромётным стилем автора.
