The Smart Teens' Guide to Living with Intensity: How to Get More Out of Life and Learning

Rate this book
This book is written for pre-teens and teens who love to learn, although they might not love school. Read about how to understand your intensity, manage perfectionism and self-talk, understand your parents better, and take charge of your education, whether you go to public school, private school, or homeschool. Discover yourself as an intense and excitable learner, a creative learner, and a self-directed learner. When you open up the possibilities of how you can learn both in and outside of school, you can live life more fully, intensely, and creatively. This is an excellent companion book to A Parent’s Guide to Gifted Teens, written by the same author but for parents of gifted adolescents.

Good review of many of the strengths gifted teens have and challenges they face. Gave insights on how to overcome or reframe some of these challenges to benefit them. I'm passing it along to my son to read and benefit from.

Because I've started working as a therapist again, and also because I have so MANY intense people in my life, I read this book. What a fascinating read!!! Although James and Naomi are not teens yet, I'm having them read this book. It's helpful for understanding yourself, others, and how you learn. I clearly pictured my children and siblings as stellar examples of the five intensities: intellectual, emotional, sensual, psychomotor, and imaginative. A great read!
