This book is fun and quite a different view on the Sonic universe. And in a couple ways it's way ahead of it's time.

Cover
I get what this cover is going for but... Who is that? I thought it might be a digitalized Tails but it isn't. It does emphasize what the book is about even if it did somewhat confuse me what direction this story was about.

Interior
Story
The most interesting thing about this story is that is based on the games more than the Archie comic's were. It seems to follow the European Sonic The Comic series with it's Freedom Fighters and Dr. Robotnik's origin. I liked Iggy the Mouse and they could be added to the mainstream.
I did expect more of a digital fight inside the computer than there actually was. It was quite self-aware as Sonic continually broke the third wall. It really tries to hit every corner and his personality was very 90s being cool and edgy. I think it was great.
It seemed like the focus was a little scattered, Getting trapped, getting out, going back in to find the cure to get back out, then the digital world gets out. Ever for Robotnik it feels a little complicated.
I did get a little lost trying to follow Tails in the computer for a moment. But all in all it was a great adventure.

After thoughts
I can't get over the other game nods (Clearly spoof titles), Pac-Man, Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition, Super Mario, Tetris, and Frogger and even a Sega Game Gear is given credit at the end.

Odd Predictions (SPOILERS)
1)
Even if it is a knock off of Frogger I think it's safe to say this is the first reference to Big the Cat's friend Froggy 5 years before Sonic Adventure's release.
2)
I thought I was pretty cool how Sonic ends up in a videogame version of Green Hill zone. (A bit of an inception moment going on.) It really gets interesting when you realize Videogame Sonic leaves to save the real world. This idea really ahead of it's time considering is a bit of a play between Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic in Sonic Generations.
3)
Interestingly Streetfighter 2 Champion Edition was ported to the European Genesis 20 days after this books release. That's quite a sublet advertisement.
4)
I can't help but notice the disembodied Psyche has the essence of Nicole. 11 months before Nichole's first public appearance.
