Ecodevelopment: Global Perspectives

Rate this book
Ecodevelopment being a multi-disciplinary and multi-stakeholders strategy aims at a combination of development and attainment of equilibrium with the environment for sustainability. At a time when the world is fast reckoning the impeding horrors of global warming, it is equally important to take cognisance of the fact that environmental degradation also drastically offsets improvements achieved by economic prosperity. The economic development must be accompanied by inclusive and sustainable growth. As human development reaches a climax, people all over the world realize the significance of conservation of the environment and the need for a sustainable development. It has been argued that the present rates are unsustainable, and hence, if economic growth has to be sustained in the long run, the only way to do it is to ensure that there is no depletion and degradation of the natural resource base.
