Variance and Covariance, Reliability and Regression: A Brief Companion of Formulas and Methods for Data Analysis

Rate this book
This is a book for people who have already had one statistics course, but who would like to learn more about the methods that are actually used in research studies. The focus is on measures of variability and association, and on the quality of measurement processes. A large number of key formulas are presented and derived, and many are illustrated with the analysis of actual biomedical data. A substantial number of assignments are provided, to reinforce the ideas presented in the text, handily divided into the more straightforward and the more challenging. Throughout the emphasis is on understanding why certain statistical procedures work (or not), and how to carry out the necessary computations.
