As a Franco-American writer living between two cultures, I am interested in exploring what happens when profoundly different experiences, perceptions, worlds, and ideas collide. What do such collisions create? How do the struggles of contradiction ease into paradoxes? For me, the novel is the perfect laboratory for sustaining contradiction until, at last, something new and unexpected arises, the fruit of our encounter with what is other.

All my novels, though they've been packaged as spin offs on various types of "women's literature" deal with these questions and in this sense none of them are what they appear to be on the surface. Perhaps this is most true of REMEDY, my first novel, which confused many critics and readers because of its surface proximity to "chick lit".

When I write, I follow a voice which I hear very clearly and trust will take me, and the reader, somewhere we haven't been before. Essentially this way of working has produced adventure stories of a sort, with a picaresque energy and feel. So far all my books have been set in Paris where I've been living for the past twenty-something years. I also write in French and my novel PATSY BOONE, written entirely in French, was published by Editions de la Différence in Paris.
