About the author

Barbara Pinke is an award-winning children’s book author who believes every story deserves a sprinkle of adventure, a dash of heart, and maybe even a dancing fish or two.

Born and raised in Hungary, Barbara hopscotched her way across Europe—collecting memories, inspiration, and probably a few too many notebooks—before settling in Germany with her family (and her ever-growing tea stash).

By day, she works in HR (helping grown-ups), and by night, she writes books (helping little hearts grow big). She doesn’t drink coffee (though she loves the smell), but give her a cup of warm plum tea and a handful of pistachios, and she’s ready to take on any story.

Whether she’s writing about underwater adventures, superhero parents, or bugs that love to hug, Barbara’s mission is simple: to create stories that make kids smile and parents feel like rockstars.

So bored with A is for Apple and B is for Ball.

This is a book that plunges the child and reader under the sea. A world that is more real and alive than perhaps it once was with SeaLife centres, TV programmes and U Tube listings.

Each letter now corresponds with things, predominantly creatures that are underwater. With fun facts, comedic illustrations and colour coding to boost the learning experience.

Bright and colourful, familiar and new. Always interesting, often arresting but overall a fun book to learn and practice one’s alphabet.

This quick children’s story is absolutely adorable! My kids and I loved the fun facts that went along with the underwater creatures of each letter. As a home schooling mom I loved that it not only put a fun twist on learning the ABCs but also had really cool fun facts to pair with it- most of which I didn’t even know! Over all just a super fun, colorful book that’s perfect for young growing brains!

Fascinating and entertaining!

This is a delightful book that is packed with interesting facts about some amazing life forms who exist under water. Starting with the letter, A, and continuing through the alphabet, the author shares something unique and fascinating about a variety of diverse species. I found the illustrations absolutely charming, and think your little ones will enjoy this book too! It would be a wonderful gift for your inquisitive children.

Gorgeous Book!!

Loved this ABC book! Love the ocean animal facts. The illustrations were breathtakingly captivating and loved the bonus material at the end! Especially the search and find page!

What a fabulously colorful and fun book!

This book is absolutely perfect for infants and toddlers to learn their alphabet and some fun facts about underwater life. The pages are so vibrant, little eyes won't help but to absorb everything on each page. The large letters stand out in different bright colors on each page. The correlating underwater creatures/objects are just as powerful but then have a small detail to inject a little more fun. And to finish off these pages, a fun fact box to give you info on that lettered item. Even at 40 years old I learned some things!

What's even better is the couple added pages in the back. After learning all the aquatic creatures throughout the book, you'll search for them on a fun game-like page to spot them in the ocean scene. After that, a page highlights the colors of each letter and how they relate to that alphabet item.

I recommend this book for all littles in your life. It's fun, educational, and I can just imagine them staring at the colored pages constantly.

Loved it - so colourful, so full of great information, so perfectly great. I read this book myself, then I read it twice with my 5 year old granddaughter and asked her how she would rate it, she said "Is there a 10?, I said, "Unfortunately, No", and then she said "Well, a definite 5". I write 'read with', because she was able to read much of it herself sounding out the words. We actually read it three times each taking turns reading different letters of the alphabet. Today, another 7-year-old grandchild was talking to me on video from a beach area in Mexico and telling me how she helped to put baby turtles back into the sea after birth, and I thought how perfect this book would be for her and her 3 year old sister as they homeschool while travelling.

A perfect book for ages 3-10, great for school libraries, wonderful for teaching underwater facts to little travelling tourists, could be used to help little artists in drawing underwater creatures, perfect for beginner readers and writing beginner stories. My best description is PERFECT.

“There’s something for everyone” my 8 year old squealed the first time we finished this beautifully illustrated Underwater ABC book by Barbara Pinke. She was initially disappointed when she discovered that it was a book more aimed towards her younger brother who is struggling to learn in ABCs in Kindergarten, as opposed to one of the many chapter books on her already hefty TBR list. She quickly changed her tune when she saw the bright vibrant colors, the fascinating facts accompanying each entry which are perfect for older siblings who already know their letters and the whimsical array of letter friends including A-angelfish, P- painted Goldie and V- vampire squid. Since the afternoon the book arrived in our mail last week they have selected it off of the shelf at least 15 times! My son is associating the letters with the underwater friends and remembering many of the facts! Highly recommend this book for parents of kids of all ages!!

Underwater ABC-A Marine Life Book for Kids

Oh my goodness, Mr Pinke and Mr Adhi what a wonderful, beautiful, very colorful, well illustrated informative book about sea life! You cleverly used the alphabets to capture my 6 year old attention and curiosity providing a sea creature for every alphabet! We were blown away with the information you provided about things we never knew about. Thank you sir’s I appreciate your efforts for a job well done and I gave your book 5 stars because you deserve it! I recommend this book to parents and grandparents to allow your children to learn about sea life and how they live in their habitation, what they eat and the color some of them change into. 👍👍

Vivid Colors Will Make This an Early Favorite

The illustrations are really cute and I love how sea creatures are used to go with each letter. There are brief, interesting facts that made this ABC book very enjoyable despite being at a level that my 4-year-old grandson has outgrown. He loves underwater life.

My 7 year old really enjoyed this story. It was filled with beautiful illustrations and really cool, facts about sea creatures, some of which he was not familiar with. It had a few difficult words that he needed to break down. Perfect story!
