Bloodborn #4
Bloodcurse
To save her people, she needs his blood.
A deadly sickness has been picking off the dwarven race one by one, and now that they are on the brink of extinction, Kirsa Frey must take desperate action. Even if it means risking her life and those of her people by trapping a vampire to use his immortal blood.
Luca Dragomir is plagued with the loss of many loved ones—friends, family, and even the woman he cared for. Unable to stand the daily reminder of his grief, he gives up his birthright, wanting nothing to do with the vampires he called family. When he leaves the only life he’s ever known, he is cornered and captured by a beautiful dwarf and taken back to her settlement.
He soon realizes there might be another way to save her people. And he is the only person who can do it.
But time is running out, and if he doesn’t succeed, he is in danger of losing the one person he comes to love more than anything.

Wow, this book kicks you in the teeth but you’ll be begging for more. Dwarves and vampires aren’t known for being mates. In this book, the author takes enemies to lovers paranormal romance to a whole new level.
The plot will grip you with its world-building, detailed narration, and action scenes. Its pace starts slow but it’s all good because the author takes time to fill in the backstory. Each scene is expertly described with tons of emotion. The tension is thick and very dramatic but that’s only part of the reason why I loved this book.
The characters, especially Kirsa and Luca, are what make Bloodcurse such a fab book. They might be a figment of the author’s imagination but once I started reading, it got personal real quick. Everything these characters went through, I went through. Every moment, every emotion, it all is perfectly described in this book. My heart broke for these characters over and over again.
The romance unfolds in a natural way and the trope is enemies to lovers with a twist. I loved the sparing, the flirting, the love Kirsa and Luca share. It’s dramatic, full of tension, and I loved every minute.
If you’re like me and love paranormal romance full of emotion, you’ll want to read this book. If vamps and dwarves are your jam, what are you waiting for? Oh, and it can read as a standalone.
Disclaimer: I received a copy from the author in the hopes I'd review it.

captivating love story
I did not want to put this book down. Luca is charming, devoted, and when we first meet him he’s down on his luck. When his family disowns him for continuing to drown his trauma away at taverns, he heads out for the adventure that will change his life. Kirsa is a fighter and her people are very quickly being eradicated by an illness that threatens to wipe them all out.
I loved so many things about this story. The pranks they played on one another, the natural way their chemistry developed, the action scenes. There was a lot of healing on so many levels as Luca found where he belonged and Kirsa found out how to live again. This is on my reread list!

This is my first book by this author which I enjoyed from beginning to end. I found this book to be well developed and easy to read. This is a story that will show you what its like to depend on one person to save those you care about. This is a fast paced, engaging story that is hard to put down. A story where the characters pull you into their world with ease. They bring the story to life on each page. They are creative, strong and relateable. I enjoyed watching their growth throughout which added to the story's entertainment. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

really loved it!
Another really great story!! And not repetitive at all, Luca is a very different personality than some of the previous characters, and honestly I didn’t think I would like his character that much but I was happy to be proved wrong!

A wonderful vampire x dwarf romance
Kirsa is desperate to find a cure to a plague that is wiping out her race. All she needs is a vampire to help make that cure. Luca is a vampire that has nothing to lose and agrees to help her.
Bloodcurse is a beautiful slow-burn romance with all the feels. I have never read a romance between a vampire and a dwarf but Winward does an amazing job of weaving their story together.
Luca and Kirsa's chemistry is *chef's kiss*. I loved all the hilarious and SWOONY moments between them. Most of all, I loved how they confessed their feelings for one another.
This paranormal romance is so unique and worth reading. You'll love this if you're looking for something fresh and swoony.

This is the first book from this series that I have read and I have enjoyed reading it. I have really enjoyed getting to know all about Dwarves and Vampires, learning about Kirsa and Luca and seeing their connection and chemistry grow; when I got to the end I wanted to read more about them together. I enjoyed the light and dark, the history and the mystery as well as the different customs, relationships and the love that shone, even in the darkest of times. I'm adding this to my read it again list as I enjoyed it so much. I am voluntarily leaving this review after receiving an ARC from Hidden Gems.
