This is a well written short story with strong characters in Dulcie and Matthew who are fellow born vampire's. The author brings the heat and delivers an entertaining quickie read.

Dulcie Evans is a gorgeous vampire, confident in her predatory skin. When she lays eyes on her friend's brother, Matthew, she knows she has to have him. She pursues him - much to his arousal and annoyance, trying to unveil the predator inside him.

Dr. Matthew Winter has a secret that has kept him away from the world. He is a vampire. But when a sexy friend of his sister goes out of her way to have him, he learns all about the pleasures of being a vampire for the first time in his life.

Trigger Warning~ blood, violence, and explicit content.

The short story is very quick-paced without any proper explanation about the vampires. It was just given that they were vampires, they drank blood, sensed other vampires, but nothing more. That annoyed me a little. Since the workings of vampires differ from narration to narration by other authors, I expected to have an explanation of what the characteristics of the vampires in this book were.

Also, there was little to no character development. Dulcie and Matthew have so many issues to resolve. Their love was out of nowhere! I don't really think that kind of relationship will last long.

So many times I read Dulcie saying "I love you," but Matthew rarely said it back. I don't really understand how they were mates.

After reading the story, I got to know it is part of a series, so I guess all the relevant explanations are provided there and this was just an introduction to the characters. Still, I did not like Matthew at all.

I would suggest knowing more about the whole series first - the order in which it is to be read - and then picking up this book.

This was a fun and steamy fated mates romance for vampires. I loved this idea and was not shocked at the blood play ;P Dulcie and Matthew strike sparks right from the get-go but Matthew has been repressing his vampiric nature and trying to live as a human. This requires great control and Dulcie is more than happy to challenge that control to let his real self out ;D Of course, there's also drama, jealousy and insecurity so it's a real page turner to see if they can get their HEA. Good fun!

This book has just a bit of suspense, lots of steam, and beautiful characters. It is a short read you can finish in about an hour. Dulcie and Matthew are born vampires. Matthew was adopted as a child, so he doesn't know this. The instant attraction between him and Dulcie is hot. At first, I didn't like Dulcie very much, but as the story progressed, she won me over. I loved that the author made Matthew a hematologist. It's ironic with him being a vampire. This is a great book I enjoyed so much!

Enjoyable read, first book I've read from this author, will look out for others.

I believe this is a prequel to other books that have these characters already established. As it's the first book I've read in this series, I did feel like I had more questions that may already be answered elsewhere. However, it didn't truly deter from the overall story.

A very short story with a bit of drama and action towards the end. It's more steam than plot but a nice, entertaining read.

A short story to start this vampire series off, and it was a little hard to follow, as I felt rushed through most of it. The blood doctor is Matt Winter, a hematologist of course, and an Immaculate vampire, one who is born and not made. He gets it on with another Immaculate and beats up her former boyfriend in the hospital. Death, blood and sex in the blood. That about covers it. I couldn't figure out what the Egyptian looking cover had to do with anything. Oh well...carry on.

I'm swooning over the way Dulcie got Mathew to open up about his bloody work, and how she was able to recognize him as a fellow born vampire - their love story is fangtastic!.
