it's always fun being the first person to review a book on goodreads, but this little gem deserves far more attention. plucked it out of the library archives for my whitby folklore research project, so only intended to read the title story, but quickly consumed the entire collection. well-written, well-curated, some niche tales nearly lost to time, katherine simpson does them all justice.
