The author beautifully expands on the often-overlooked women in the Bible, shedding light on their significant roles during their time—roles that were sometimes behind the scenes, yet deeply impactful. One such woman is Merari, who is mentioned in the Bible, though her name isn't directly revealed. In this novel, the author brings Merari's story to life, highlighting her kindness, evolving faith, and unwavering support for those she loved. It’s a compelling reminder to lean on God's guidance and strive to do what is right according to our faith. This novel not only deepens our understanding of biblical women but also offers timeless lessons about love, faith, and the quiet power of doing good in the world.

I have mixed reviews about this book. On the one hand, it made reading about events in the Old Testament easier and more interesting. This story was based on 2 Kings. But it's not the most enjoyable reading to me. The names are confusing, and I had to put together a list of who was who. Maybe if I read this while reading the Bible it would have been better.
