This was my favorite book as a young kid, and I just found a copy for my daughter on eBay. It is delightful!
Zero Mostel, in his giant diaper and red scarf, is a zesty and hairy antidote to all of the antiseptic characters kids are often served up. In the book, he illustrates opposites by acting them out, and we get to see him sweating and freezing , pinching his own nose with pliers large and small, eating a yummy and a yucky pie, and lugging suitcases that are either heavy or light.
It is funny and sweet and perfect for any little weirdos you know.

So does the hat make him more interesting than he really is?
