This book records the history and ownership of over 200 private camps built between 1890-1930 in the Rangeley region. It includes hundreds of interviews conducted by the author during his seven years of research, an exhaustive search of deeds to determine all the camp owners up to the present. It also contains over 500 pictures and illustrations. The Rangeley Lakes Region includes 10 large lakes and ponds and became a well known fishing destination in the 1870s. Many of these sportsmen built extensive summer residences for their comfort and enjoyment. This books relates life as it was, In The Gilded Age.
