The Illegal Trial of Christ

Rate this book
The Passion is only part of the story! For millions around the world, The Passion of the Christ breathed new depth and insight into the last mortal hours of Jesus Christ. But before the physical horrors endured by Jesus . . . came a nightmare of illegalities. In The Illegal Trial of Christ, Steven W. Allen examines civil and religious law both Hebrew and Roman. He exposes the violations that occurred during Christ s betrayal, arrest, and trial. But this book is not merely an attorney's articulation of broken laws. It also encompasses some unique observations and inspiring moments in the last few days in the life of the Master. You will be amazed at the soap opera circumstances surrounding the lives of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate, Julia, Claudia and how they affected the outcome of the trial.

This book, a lawyer's look at the trials that condemned Christ, is a great Easter read. The author has researched both Jewish and Roman law contemporary with Christ's life. Both were violated continually when Christ was betrayed into the hands of the Jewish high priest, Sanhedrin, and the Roman authorities.

Parts were retellings of familiar details, but the most interesting to me were the sections about Jewish and Roman legal requirements for trials, and how they were broken for the trials of Christ. Good compilation of all the details of the trials and crucifixion of the Lord.

This was a very informative book. Gave deeper meaning into some of the scripture references and explained laws mentioned in others. At times it seemed repetitive, but I believe it was necessary to make the points he needed to make. Worth the time to read it and should be a keeper in your religious library.
