This legendary rapper was gunned down in Las Vegas in 1996, but not before having multi-platinum releases and a promising acting career. A prime example of the line rappers walk between street credibility and their art, Tupac pushed the East-West rap feud both as a real fight and as a tool to influence media coverage of his career. Tupacs raps were part traditional social protest and part gritty descriptions of street life in urban neighborhoods. This book includes details of his life, career, and like the other Essential Lives Cut Short books, covers the controversies surrounding his life and death. Lives Cut Short is a series in Essential Library, an imprint of ABDO Publishing Company.

My book was an autobiography of Tupac Shakur by Ashley Harris.I really loved this book not only because it was about one of the greatest rappers of all time, but the fact that I was able to relate to him just by being back and growing up in the same neighborhood.Tupac was born in east Harlem June 16,1971 and state there until 1984 when he moved to Baltimore and meet Jada Pinkett Smith. Also in Baltimore Tupac attended Baltimore School for the Arts where he studied music acting and poetry. After leaving Baltimore staying there for four years he moved to Oakland California with his mother and sister to start his acting/music career.Playing in his first movie Nothing but trouble where he only had a cameo in.But he had his first starring role in 1992 movie juice which was one of my favorite movies of all time. This movie created many opportunities for tupac most importantly his music career which took off in the early 1900’s.Going back to earlier on in the the summary I think I loved this book so much because everything he went through facing police brutality and racism which is something i see every day in our city especially my neighborhood.I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read autobiography's about famous people or black leaders.
I recommend to read Tupac Shakur: Mutlti-Platinum, because his life was really interesting to read about and some people might connect with him. Tupac was one of the greatest inspirational rapper that has been in this world.
He always rapped about the struggles that the African Americans had during the time period he was brought up in and was in. Tupac also made mistakes but he always learned from them and he became a better person. His music was very influential to every one that went through.
When Tupac was getting more famous, that's when everything went down hill. He has been shot at and had received death threats. Later on Tupac went to jail for sexual assault, but got bailed out by Suge Knight. After he was released, he still made the music that all his fans loved and connected with him.
But Tupac's life came to an end when he was shot at Las Vegas and he was bleeding out from his lung. When people found out that he passed away, everyone was shocked and sad because they lost the person they look up to. Tupac was one of the best rappers and he left an mark in rap.
I give this book 5 stars and recommended to anyone that likes rap music and would love to learn about a person that was inspirational to every one around them. Rip Tupac Shakur!
Tupac Shakur, by Ashley Rae Harris was defiantly an enjoyable book. I myself and a huge fan of Tupac so it was a joy to really be taken in depth about his life in general. He defiantly faced way more challenges then I ever thought he did. If you are a fan of old type of music or 90s rap I would defiantly recommend this book, it really showed the reality if being in the rap industry. The book mainly focused on the assumptions of what people had on verses what actually happened. The book also really talks about the areas during those times and how Tupac really rose from the ground. Overall it was a great book and I would really recommend it.
I think that this was a great documentary. I chose to read this book because when people say they like hip hop, they don't even know who Tupac is. I really liked the way that the author put so many things that were from Tupac's life. I strongly recommend this book!
