I couldn't enjoy the story much. I felt there should have been more adventures and bit strong characters. I loved the description of sea lives and took me back to gramma's storytelling days.

I listened to the audio version via USF Lit2Go and it's a pretty great kids story. It brings together facts about sea life with the fun and imagination of Sammy the Salmon. A few important themes include bravery in the face of danger and finding what you want, especially when it's right in front of you. Although, I haven't read it in print, I'm going to say this would be one to read aloud. The story really lends itself to that element.

I read this along with my 9 year old who read it independently for school Not my typical book but I did ask her what she thought.

From a 9 year olds perspective: “It is a good book and I learned a lot about different ocean animals”. Four stars from Eva.
