I won this book thru Goodreads first-reads program and I was very happy because I never won anything and this was a first. I honestly say that it’s also my first time to read a book of Sandra Brown and I had no idea what to expect.

I found Sandra’s book enjoyable and captivating. It contains two novels: Sand auf unserer Haut (original title Temperatures Rising) and Sterne in der Nacht (original title A Whole New Light).

Sand auf unserer Haut tells the story of engineer Scout Ritland who is “persuaded” (maybe better say forced) to help the inhabitants of a tropical village. He meets Chantal Dupont, an exotic and stunning beauty, who will capture his heart.

Sterne in der Nacht tells the story of Cyn McCall, a widow with a son, who fall in love with Worth Lansing, her husband’s friend and business partner.

Even though this German translation was published in 2010, the two novels were written several years ago. This explains why the lifestyles described reflect the trends and attitudes of the period they have been written. I found this aspect fascinating because it seemed like a dive into the past and the storylines were interesting and full of passion.
