Ideal for those new to real estate development, this comprehensive reference book offers a thorough and practical introduction. Using an eight-stage model of the development process, the authors explain idea conception, feasibility, planning, financing, market analysis, contract negotiation, construction, and asset management. Ongoing case studies of an office and a multifamily development provide realistic examples.
This is a bit of a textbook which means it is a bit long and hard to get through. However, if you are serious of entering the real estate development business it has the information you need. It covers all asset classes like multifamily, retail, office, industrial and it discusses the fundraising portion. I have nothing but great things to say. It will be a reference the development we are working on. If you find it too long try reading only the asset classes you are interested in developing; which is what I did.
it is long and sometimes dry, but this is the most comprehensive book i've read about the development business. it describes the development process chronologically in an 8-step process and has case studies to follow along the way.
