Novala Takemoto (嶽本 野ばら) is the professional name of Toshiaki Takemoto (嶽本 稔明), a Japanese author and fashion designer. Takemoto has been one of the most active promoters of the Lolita lifestyle and remains fascinated with the Rococo era in particular. He was nominated for the Yukio Mishima Literary Award twice, for his novels Emily (in 2003) and Lolita (in 2004).
This is one of my very favorite Novalas. It is light and silly, but intensely satisfying. I read it the first time in one weekend, more than half of it during one lovely luxurious bath in a hotel room in Tokyo that lasted way longer than it had any right to because I could not stop reading. I just.fucking.love.this.book. It's so classic Novala. Year is approximate, it was either 2006 or 2007. And then I reread it in 2013. Because, love.
