sm Quarto, , pp.160, Description of more than 130 indigenous and endemic species of Hawaiian plants. A permanent record of the islands fast disappearing flora
A good book, but getting outdated. For example, Passiflora mollissima turns out to be P. tarminiana, Koster's curse is in a new genus AND species name, so it can be hard to keep track. Also, the chapters have lists of names - it helps to read the general section, then each habitat section while browsing the photos for that habitat section (they are at the end). Not a field guide, a botanical introduction.
I know what aka-la, and sandalwood, look like and that they grow in Hawaii. I also better understand the effects of bottle-necking in species populations on the Hawaii islands.
