Paper Chain is a good book that tells the story of two brothers whose mother has cancer. It is a picture book and would be useful for a read aloud. Marcus and Ben are sad because their mother cannot do the activities that she did before, but after she recovers from her surgery she gains strength and can once again enjoy those activities. The issue in this book is cancer, which is a terminal illness, and the loved ones dealing with this disease.

I did not like this book at all. I suppose it goes through some of the steps of a child living with someone with cancer, and it certainly addresses a lot of information on it. But the perspective seems kind of selfish, being from the kid. It still didn't talk about why mom was acting differently. It also obviously has a happy ending which is both good and bad. You don't want to project negative energy but at the same time you don't want to give out false hope either.
