Silent Nests

Rate this book
For centuries, raising pigeons and doves was a symbol of privilege granted to the aristocracy. Before the French Revolution, there were over forty thousand dovecotes in large, freestanding buildings that Vicki Topaz depicts in her enigmatic black-and-white photographs. Today, less than one thousand of these colombiers remain. Images from Silent Nests are included in several American collections, like the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, and have been presented at international venues and photo festivals. Vicki Topaz is based in San Francisco. She is one of the co-founders of PhotoAlliance and a member of San Francisco Camerawork.
