Exactly what it says on the tin. An introduction to P&C insurance, basic policies, rate setting, and reserving. Nothing too deep. A good review or steppingstone for non-casualty insurance managers, actuaries, or stockholders.

Elementary calculus will come in handy, but the ideas can be expressed without it. Written over 30 years ago, some modern concepts such as telemeterics, social determinants of risk, AI, and machine learning are absent. In fact, not much goes into risk classification techniques (though the use of base classes with adjustment and credibility are covered).
