From the moment Thomas Miles steps onto campus at Lincoln University he is drawn into a whirlwind of popularity, drugs, sexy co-eds and liberal self-deprecating professors. His happily integrated lifestyle is turned upside down when racial issues force him to take a stand. In response, he develops a double identity which allows him to function at a predominantly white school, while remaining true to his blackness. As tensions rise, Tommy adapts to the point of becoming a contortionist who has lost his original shape.Only when his life is threatened does he realize that being true to himself is the only means of survival.
